The Methanization Blog – methanisation.fr

We are excited to announce the launch of our new blog, methanisation.fr, a platform dedicated to methanization. Our goal is to provide detailed information about the methanization process, explain how it works, and highlight the importance of FERHYDROX® iron hydroxide, which extends the lifespan of activated carbon.

What is methanization?

Methanization is a biological process that transforms organic matter into biogas, a renewable energy source. This process involves the decomposition of organic material by microorganisms in the absence of oxygen, resulting in the production of methane and carbon dioxide. The biogas generated can be used for electricity production, heating, or injected into the natural gas grid after purification.

However, raw biogas often contains impurities, including hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), a toxic and corrosive gas. The presence of H₂S can damage equipment, increase maintenance costs, and create environmental issues. This is where iron hydroxide plays a crucial role.

The Methanization Blog

With the launch of this blog, we aim to share our expertise and insights on methanization, with a particular focus on technical aspects such as the use of iron hydroxide. Our objective is to provide valuable resources for industry professionals, researchers, and anyone interested in renewable energy and organic waste management.

We invite you to explore methanisation.fr, read our latest articles, and actively participate by sharing your comments and suggestions. Together, let’s contribute to the development and promotion of methanization in France.

Why use FERHYDROX®?

FERHYDROX® iron hydroxide is used as a purification agent to remove H₂S from biogas. It reacts with H₂S to form stable solid compounds, thereby reducing the concentration of this harmful gas in biogas. This purification process improves biogas quality, protects equipment from corrosion, and facilitates the energy valorization of biogas.

FERHYDROX® iron hydroxide extends the lifespan of activated carbon

With its FERHYDROX® iron hydroxide, CMMP demonstrates its commitment to innovation and sustainability. Fully aligned with the energy transition, CMMP plays a vital role in the valorization of biogas—a clean and renewable energy source—while adopting responsible and environmentally friendly practices.

FERHYDROX® stands out as a solution for methanization professionals. By acting directly within the digester, iron hydroxide effectively reduces the concentration of H₂S in biogas before it reaches activated carbon filters. This preventive reduction lessens the load on activated carbon, allowing it to remain operational for a longer period.

Optimizing operational costs: Thanks to the action of iron hydroxide, the replacement cycles of activated carbon are extended, reducing operating costs. This synergy between the two technologies significantly improves the economic balance of methanization facilities while ensuring optimal biogas purification.
